On Sunday the 5th of April working groups from across Victoria partake in a virtual rally to mark the annual Palm Sunday demonstration for justice for refugees. This virtual rally got over 50,000 reaches on social media. 

The protest included a range of groups from across Melbourne including Northside Youth With Refugees and Westside Youth with Refugees. The groups worked throughout the day to upload, share, like and comment on photos of themselves with banners across social media, voicing their support for their the rights of people seeking asylum. 

The virtual rally focused on the rights of people seeking asylum during the Covid-19 health crisis, particularly on the need to secure permanent protection for people on TPVS and bridging visas, make welfare and Medicare available to those people and to ensure vital protections for people detained in immigration detention centres.
