Please RSVP: SNAP ACTION: Calls for Release (online event) Join us to pressure politicians to release people seeking asylum from detention NOW!
You may have heard the very concerning news that there is a growing cluster of covid-19 cases at the Park “Hotel’ Prison in Naarm (Melbourne) this week. We are very concerned about the safety of everyone caught up in the government’s indefinite detention regime, with many unable to adequately distance or gain access to vaccines.
The growing reports of cases, sadly, prove what we have been saying since the pandemic began; that detention centres are dangerous.
We must act together to put urgent pressure on politicians and demand the immediate release of all people in detention so they can be safe in our communities. Join us in making this demand.
Join us this Wednesday 20th of October, 12.30pm-1.30pm AEDT.
Calling Parties are a fun, fast and powerful way to put pressure on our political representatives.
In this hour-long event, you will receive a briefing about the current state of play and how to make (and log) your calls, then spend about 30 minutes calling a number of senior government ministers and other politicians, before coming back together for a debrief and celebration.
In the last year we have made nearly 5000 calls to politicians, so we know we can make a huge impact when we act collectively. Together, lets call our politicians and demand fair treatment. Grab your phone and we will see you there!
RSVP NOW to receive the Zoom link.
