A group of Qld unionists, from the ETU, MEAA, The Services Union and NTEU, met with Sen Claire Moore in July to ask that she advocates more for the rights of people seeking asylum to permanent protection, fair process and community based processing.
Senator Moore is a member of Labor For Refugees and speaks humanely of refugees, however the group was keen to ask her about policies and to lobby her about making certain commitments.
The delegation of committed union officials and rank and file members had a long and frank discussion with Sen Moore and they appreciated the time they were given. They forward to hearing back formally from Senator Moore in the near future about the questions they asked her.
