Background: Tim completed his Diploma of Business before studying Arts and then lastly his Masters in Diplomacy and Trade.  He then completed specialist studies in several areas including public health and intellectual property. Previously to entering politics, Tim was the Policy Director at the Institute of Public Affairs and the Australian Human Rights Commissioner.

Key Policy Background: Tim is currently a member of the social policy and legal affairs, health, aged care and sport and industry, innovation, science and resources standing committees.

Relevant Information/Links to Community: As Human Rights Commissioner Tim remained largely impartial on issues related to people seeking asylum and refugees.  Whilst he was vocal upon the rights of free speech and amending the racial discrimination act, he did not engage on the legalities and rights of people to be deported and detained in offshore immigration detention centres.

Record on Issues Related to Refugees: Tim has demonstrated strong opposition for legislation related to the rights of people seeking asylum and refugees. He voted very strongly stopping people who arrive by boat from ever coming to Australia, whilst voting very strongly against implementing refugee and protection conventions.

Other Potential Community and Advocacy Links: Tim is also involved with the Freemason Society functioning as an Ambassador for both the Brighton Freemasons and the Victorian Branch.  He has also served as a board member for the Monash University and Alfred Health.   

Key Industries within Electorate: Mainly residential but also contains some light industrial and commercial activities.
